A Passing of the Torch in RTP Club Leadership
Posted By Frank Vinluan
In Rotary, torches don’t get extinguished. They’re passed on. Andrew Kerr presided over his last meeting as president of the RTP Rotary Club, during which he passed the torch (actually, a gavel) to new President David Spisak.
Andrew, who has been a Rotarian for more than 11 years, described Rotary as his second home adding that the past year has been the most fun he’s ever had in Rotary. He leaves RTP but not Rotary; he’s taking on a new role with the Rotary Foundation in New Orleans.
David credited Andrew with the club’s resurgence, leading to recognition as the District’s best club, an honor acknowledged by District Governor Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair. She urged the club to stay the course, noting that this coming year’s theme is “Rotary serving humanity.”
“I’m counting on the club to not only grow, but to also continue its focus on service,” Rusine said.
